Magazine 'miracle' diets should be 'dropped'

A government minister has written to magazine editors asking them not to promote post-Christmas "miracle" diets because they pose a "health risk".

The fact that most people are smart enough to realize that fad diets and exercise programs do not produce long term results is a non-issue in my opinion.  Of course they know better but the emotion that is involved with appearance overrides most rationale thought.  The mere fact that we are bombarded with ads in every form of media only strengthens the position of these scams.  To add to the confusion, most people believe that the FTC, FDA or FCC would never allow these entities from airing false advertisements.  Ah, naivete!

Word of advice: If it sounds too good to be true it probably is!
