Tell Your Senator to Expand Chiropractic to Veterans

SPECIAL LEGISLATIVE ALERT BULLETIN
Ensure that our nation's veterans have unimpeded access to chiropractic
Background: With the recent U.S. Senate Veterans Affairs Committee hearing on S. 422, the committee is poised to soon consider this legislation which directs the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to expand the number of sites where the services provided by a Doctor of Chiropractic are available. S. 422, the Chiropractic Care Available to All Veterans Act introduced by Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), mirrors House legislation in calling for the VA to phase in the essential services provided by doctors of chiropractic to all major VA medical facilities over the next several years. Why is this important? VA data (Analysis of VA Health Care Utilization Among Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) Veterans) cite "diseases of Musculoskeletal System/Connective System," as the number one ailment of Iraq/Afghanistan veterans accessing VA treatment.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO: Contact your Senators via ACA's ChiroVoice Legislative Action Center or the ICA's Adjust the Vote network and urge them to cosponsor S. 422. The more cosponsors we get on S. 422, the greater the likelihood of its success.
Is your Senator currently a cosponsor? Below are current (June 6, 2013) cosponsors of S. 422. These Senators do not need to be contacted.

Sen. Mark Begich (D-AK)
Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA)
Sen. Jerry Moran (R-KS)
Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY)
Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI)
Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH)
Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA)
Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT)
Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT)
ACT NOW! A couple mouse clicks of your time is all that is needed to ensure that our brave men and women who have served have the access to the services of a Doctor of Chiropractic; services they need and deserve. Thank you!
