No Ill Effect Found in Human BPA Exposure

In a meta-analysis of 150 studies of the additive called bisphenol (BPA), funded by the EPA,finds that the exposure is too low to be worrisome to humans.
Justin Teegarden, a toxicologist at the federal Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, presented his research at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
BPA, used to harden plastic containers and prevent germ growth, in large amounts can act like the sex hormone Estrogen.  Recently, it has been banned in infant containers by the FDA and many other manufacturers have voluntarily omitted it from their products.
Now here is the problem with this simple meta-analysis; it isolates BPA without consideration of the host's health status and the long term effects of the low dose.

In a piece written for the website of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Linda S. Birnbaum writes about how the small amounts of a toxin have the potential to create problems in the long term.

"In some cases, a susceptibility to disease also can persist long after the initial insult or exposure has ended, Birnbaum said. Researchers have found, for example, that infants fed almost exclusively on soy-based formula have an increased risk of developing fibroid tumors decades later.
Researchers at NIEHS and elsewhere are starting to learn about some of the underlying biological mechanisms that may explain how exposure to certain chemicals and other stressors during crucial stages of life can lead to untoward health consequences.
Studies in animals suggest that hormone-mimicking chemicals can produce latent effects by subtly altering the structure and expression of DNA molecules. There are modifications in the “packaging” of the genes rather than the underlying DNA sequence itself. Such changes are referred to as epigenetics."

Is BPA an immediate killer?  Should it be avoided like the plague?  Is your health and immune system strong enough to counteract the ill effects of BPA? No one really knows the far reaching effects of these man made chemicals that we innocently ingest multiple times a minute.

I recommend that everyone perform a yearly 21 day cleanse of the liver and GI tract to reduce the additive effects of toxic inflammation.  I use Standard Process Purification Program routinely in my office over inferior store purchased products.
