Diagnosing Shoulder Instability

Shoulder problems can manifest themselves in many different pain patterns.
They also can create abberant movement patterns that can create secondary issues. Some clients with shoulder instability will have difficulty maintaining proper lifting posture not only reducing their power output, increasing pain but also creating multi joint issues.

San Francisco CrossFit has a great video explaining the effects of shoulder instability in push movements and demonstrates some easy solutions.
As always, when training a weak or injured joint the best results come from slow, light and pain free movements before graduating to high velocity/greater force movements. Also, daily initiation of stability exercises produce the best results in inroading these new movement patterns.
